FAQ - Safety
QuestionWhat do some of the warnings on your labels mean in greater detail?
Answer
  • Irritant - means that the material may cause a skin rash.
  • Corrosive – the material will damage the eyes and skin and can lead to burns
  • Harmful – this material may harm you from skin contact, from breathing in or ingesting. The wording will indicate which.
  • Highly Flammable – means that a spark or cigarette could start a fire if the lid of the can was left off. Paint or thinners in tins, or vapours in the air, can catch fire or explode.
  • Avoid Ingestion - food or drink should not be prepared or consumed in areas where paint is stored or being used.
  • Avoid Inhalation – the inhalation of solvent vapour from paint or dust from sanding should be avoided by the provision of adequate ventilation or extraction. If this is not sufficient (or if specifically stated on the label) suitable respiratory protection should be used.
  • Avoid eye contact – will be harmful to the eyes and eye protection should be used during application.
  • Avoid skin contact – skin irritation can occur. Always wear protective gloves and clothing when applying or mixing any paint products.
